Ashlar STEM Academy, also known as ASA, respects the privacy of its members, subscribers and other visitors to its website. ASA is committed to protecting the privacy of its members, subscribers and website visitors. In order to protect online privacy, ASA has adopted this privacy policy, which together with our Terms of Use govern ASA’s relationship with you in relation to this website.
Information Collected by ASA
ASA collects and utilizes different kinds of information from users of the ASA website. It is the policy of ASA that data will be used for internal purposes only -- to help ASA better serve its members, subscribers and visitors. It is ASA’s policy to collect and store only personal information that our members, subscribers and visitors knowingly provide. The data compiled is considered confidential. ASA does not sell, rent, share, or otherwise dispose of the personal information collected to entities outside of the organization. ASA may disclose your personal information if required by law or in the good-faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to comply with law.
ASA does not collect any personal information from users browsing its website. Users of the public areas of ASA’s website browse anonymously. ASA collects the email addresses of those who communicate with ASA, with its subsidiaries and with its agents via email and for those who register for certain sections of the ASA website. ASA also collects information volunteered by users, such as survey information and/or site registrations. This information is kept confidential by ASA and is used for internal purposes only.
Credit card information is collected from an individual when joining or renewing a membership, registering for an educational course, or event, or purchasing other services. These data are submitted voluntarily. Similar information may be submitted to ASA through membership applications, conference or seminar registrations, and subscriptions. ASA may also ask for your address, phone number, and/or email address when you submit an abstract or paper, complete a survey, register for a conference, apply for membership, or on other occasions. In each case, our objective is to have your contact information so that we can serve you better.
From time to time, ASA may use your address, phone number, or email address to provide you with updates and other information that we think may be of interest to you. Additionally, via some emails sent in HTML format by ASA to its members and e-newsletter subscribers, ASA may collect specific information regarding what the recipient does with that email. For those emails, ASA may monitor whether a recipient subsequently clicks through to links provided in the message. Other information collected through this tracking feature includes: email address of a user, name of the list from which the message was sent, and destination page. ASA will only use this information to enhance its services and distribution of those services to its members and other subscribers. This information will not be distributed in any other manner without user consent.
How does ASA use Data Collected?
ASA uses information voluntarily submitted by members and others to ASA directly and/or to one of its subsidiaries or agents, in the following ways:
ASA Subscriber and Member Services
ASA and its direct subsidiaries use data collected to maintain the user’s membership, to maintain subscription to ASA's e-newsletters and to provide requested services (i.e., short courses, boot camps and events).
To gain access to members-only resources and personalization features on the ASA website, members are asked to use their member number and password.
Disclosures to Third Parties
ASA may make member contact information available to other members through the “members only” portions on its website. ASA does not sell member information to anyone. Member personal information is not shared with third parties other than those acting as agents of ASA and as directed by ASA.
A third party acting on behalf of ASA may collect event registration information for the purpose of managing the event on behalf of ASA. ASA uses third-party services that may collect information on your use of this website through the use of cookies and web beacons as follows:
Credit Card Account Information
ASA does not disclose or store credit card account information provided by its members, subscribers and customers. When members, subscribers and customers choose to pay using their credit cards, the credit card information is transmitted via a secure encryption provided by some third-party services such as FormSmarts, PayPal, Eventbrite, WIX and as such.
How can users opt out of communications or unsubscribe from ASA services?
Users who wish to unsubscribe from ASA e-newsletter and those who wish to opt-out of receiving one or more types of communications from ASA, may do so by contacting ASA via Contact Form provided on the ASA website, or clicking on the opt-out link provided in the ASA e-newsletter. Should neither one works, you can also contact ASA per email ashlar@ashlarstem.com.
Security
ASA undertakes reasonable efforts to ensure that all personally identifiable information collected on ASA website remains secure. All ASA staff members are instructed to treat member and customer information confidentially.
ASA cannot provide a guarantee against inadvertent disclosure or intentional misappropriation of data by a third party including one of our employees. Our Privacy Policy applies solely to information collection practice on ASA website. This website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that ASA has no control or influence over the privacy practices of other sites. ASA encourages all users to be aware when they leave ASA website and to read privacy statements of every website they visit.
